wierd half man half robot film thing

So when I was a kid I remember watching a film about a man who was a big clever scientist type guy but he got in an accident because of some bad guys for some reason and ended up in a wheelchair I think. Then he invented a kind of iron man style automated suit thing that he could climb into that gave him mechanical powers to fight the bad guys. Im sure the inside when he climbed into it was like it was coated in loads of different colours of playdoh and the outside was a shiny red colour. If youve any idea what im on about please save me from the nuthouse and tell me ive not imagend it
