Did any of you watch it last night? What did you think?

O_G.........maybe it does not matter to you because it's a word that would not be directed at *you*. Whereas most women find it to be the worst and ugliest word in the English language. Would you be so accepting if it was directed at someone close to you. Words are never *only* words...they have meaning and intent.

Certainly different and have me snortling at times - well written I thought and a definite streak of pathos right through it.
I really enjoyed it, it felt fresh. Well-written & acted, loved the asides to camera, she has some marvellous facial expressions in her repertoire. :-))

I think the actress was superb. However, I HATE and loathe the C word (not Christmas)! I hope it won't crop up again because then I won't watch it.
Yes that wasn't on I agree.
I don't particularly like that word but if used in context it can be effective. I agree that its inclusion last night was a weak point.
I didn't see it, but I'd read that the actress in it also wrote it.
I've missed the last couple of episodes because of the Olympics. I really enjoyed the first few that I saw. I thought she was great.
Thanks for reminding me. I must catch up soon.
pasta - you're right, it's Phoebe Waller-Bridge -

A review here (along with another for "Fake Or Fortune?") -

Cloverjo - I hadn't realised it had already been shown on BBC3, glad I caught it this time around :-)
I saw the first episode(think it was the first) where she used the A word, very naughty!
I used to be very offended by the c word, but now I feel I'm almost immune to it.
I'd be upset if someone called me that, but I'm ok hearing it on TV.
Quirky, funny.. If you are broadminded. Loved it!
Becoming immune to a word does not make it acceptable. I wouldn't want to be *ok* with it.
But that's just me.

I'm with you on that Pasta, it's such an UGLY word.
A word is just a word. Life's easier, less stress, when you haven't sensitised yourself to something so irrelevant.

And what was the intent in Fleabag ?
And if the intent is what is important then you don't have an issue with the word.
It's not irrelevant. it's a highly offensive word (to me). Think of all the other words we're not allowed to say these days, no-one said de-sensitise yourself about them.
It's a simple expletive. Not comparable to specific insults are you are alluding to.

You see, this is the same thing as when, many years ago, we'd read or hear about a murder and be totally shocked by it: now we barely bat an eyelid. It's the same with bad language. I think the C word is the last taboo, and long may it remain so. I don't want to be desensitised to it.
