Just settled back to watch 'The Dambusters' on Channel 5 and the announcer warned that there is strong language that some people may find offensive, from a 1954 film surely not!
The only thing I can think it might be is Guy Gibson's dog is called N****r, yes the 'N ' word, what do you think?

Too many floppy haired, foppish history graduates with an eye on being the go-to safe pair of hands for broadcasters, happy to rewrite stuff to be palatable for the professionally squeamish.
War films are traditional at Xmas. The Great Escape usually. Anyway one should expect strong language, it's called The Damn Busters for crying out loud.
How ridiculous - the continuity announcer keeps warning of offensive language at every break - it's the Dogs name for god sake, most probably due to the colour of his coat.

Anyone who gets upset by such an innocent thing needs to grow up and stop being so touchy - political correctness gone... etc etc ad nauseum!
