was watching the blue peter /abba programme and in the background they had a cover version of SOS which i swear was being sung by terry wogan- did he do a cover?(thought it was brilliant!)

Um, don't think so. I can't say I noticed it and I watched the show twice. I have Terry Wogan's Floral Dance LP and there's no "SOS" on there (there's a pretty indescribable version of the Bee Gees' "Words" though!). I don't think he ever did any other proper recordings.
