why has the brilliant book 'the wasp factory' by iain banks never been made into a film?

Dunno, but I agree.  Its such a dark novel, quite sick, so maybe that's why?

I think someone HAS bought the rights, but have never got round to making it. I agree it would be a brilliant film, with the great twist at the end, a bit like "The Crying Game". I do know that the group REM latched onto it a long time ago and offered their services for the soundtrack.

Because its bad enough reading it (dont get me wrong I enjoyed it) - but I dont think I would want to watch it
