I believe she recently converted to Rome and has now taken the veil, Mikey.

Now that is something I would pay good money to see vetuste_ennemi !
You've got that partially right, Vestute. Some time ago I gave her a letter of introduction to the Mother Superior of a convent near Dublin which still hand washes sacerdotal linen.
I think she's gone to spend a holiday there and will be lending a hand over the steaming tubs.
on a pedantic note, Mikey, "wherefore" does not mean "where", but "why"
Wherefore are thou, Romeo? Does that actually mean, 'Why are thou, Romeo'? Existential angst at its deepest, that.
Sandy - I thought that the last words in your post were 'steaming turds'.

God knows what might be in that priestly linen after they've staggered in after a night on the Guinness.

nescio.... I took the quote from here, so I presumed it was right :::

http://www.enotes.com/shakespeare-quotes/o-romeo-romeo-wherefore-art-thou-romeo

It was correct at the time I did the play for my O levels, although that wasn't long after Shakespeare wrong the ruddy play !
in Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is standing directly below her Juliet's balcony. She is asking "why are you Romeo?" i.e.why did you have to be Romeo, a Montague, her family's sworn enemies.

I know nescio ! I was just using the quote in its normally accepted sense.

Anyway...where the ruddy hell is Naomi !
Naomi was on the 'dull' thread last night.
nexcio - //in Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is standing directly below her Juliet's balcony. She is asking "why are you Romeo?" i.e.why did you have to be Romeo, a Montague, her family's sworn enemies. //

Absolutely - it is one of the always-trotted-out misunderstandings.

Another one is 'Alas poor Yorrick! I knew him well!', but the quote is actually ' ... I knew him Horatio ...'.

It's great being a pedant isn't it!!
