I have read some of Richard Laymon's novels, and I find him similar to Dean Koonz in that, when he is on form he is really good, and when he is off form he is dreadful.

Never heard of Edward Lee but read a lot of Richard Laymon when I was younger. He writes very graphic, violent horror.
