Dci Banks

I have googled it but what's the background to the main characters in DCI Banks - I've only just started watching it and there's been some sort of party (at the boss' house) and a baby was introduced to everyone).

Annie, with the baby, was a close colleague of Banks, hence the crack about He's got your ears, though there was never any explicit relationship between them, in the books nor the TV version. The other woman, with the sons, isn't in the books so I can't halp.

im sure in the books they had an on/off relationship

but re the tv series, the baby is not his & they haven't had a personal relationship

zebo - there was a definite sexual relationship between them in the books until he and Annie became 'just good friends'.

I am reading the current Banks and there has been a reference to them (Banks & Cabbot) being lovers.

I can't for the life of me remember the baby in the books though.
