similar but superior films

Hi. Reading the Basic Instinct thread reminded me of a similar, earlier film called Sea of Love with Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin. I don't think it was as comercially successful as BI but in my opinion it was far better. Much sexier and more compelling. Which other films do ABers think come unfairly second to similar but more successful movies?

I preferred Deep Impact rather than Armageddon (sp?). Infact it was only the Aerosmith song that I liked from Armageddon.

I'm afraid I haven't seen either of those films BOO. Probably the closest film to them I've seen is Independence Day although I could be way off track there!
