Whenever I've watched The Great Gatsby I've wished to be back in the twenties living a decadent life at parties in great houses and lovely flapper's clothes. Any films make you feel you'd like to travel back in time.  (Obviously, it would have to be a romantacised version of events otherwise I'd probably end up as one of the housemaids)

justineo: I, like you, have wanted to go back in time and live in another era...I love the 80s! I am an 80s girl through and through...I have always gotten laughs from my friends about my taste in music (if it's not before 1990, I hate it)...and my clothes too..I love the 80s cheesy, tacky style....friends rag me for trying to bring it back...I think people had so much fun back then...and for some reason, though I was born in 1983 (and missed most of it being to young) I have wished I could have been born earlier and grown up in the 80s as a teenager!

and by the way...Journey and Styx rules!

oops...to add to that...some great 80s films that will take you back in time are: Wedding Singer (Adam Sandler), Flashdance, and Footloose...if you haven't seen em'...you need to!

I would love to try the romanticised version of 50s America.  The music, the dancing without the bigotry.

Not so much a film, but everytime I watch the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice I really want to live in the Regency period, it just looks cool.

Failing that probably 1930s in the Deep South in the US

it's like when I visit a castle, I love to imagine being one of the rich people, (obviously), having banquets and being entertained by jesters and jugglers and wearing velvet dresses and floaty veils.  Actually, come to think of it i would like to be Maid Marion in Robin Hood with Errol Flynn!
This doesn't relate to any particular film, but I would love to go back to Paris in the twenties. I would live in an attic and hang around montmartre drinking absinthe and discussing the nature of surrealism with my bohemian mates; Picasso, Dali, Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Gertrude Stein, Hemingway etc etc.

Ludwig -The film "Irma la Douch" with Shirley Maclaine and Gene Kelly makes me feel like that even considering her occupation.  Perhaps I could organise a party for you and your intellectual chums!
ooh la la!. There's an offer I couldn't refuse. If you don't mind I won't bring Dali though, he's a bit weird.
