The statement was given outside New Broadcasting House, which is the name given to the redeveloped (and greatly extended) Broadcasting House in central London:

While that link correctly states that the BBC's HQ is still Broadcasting House, I suspect that you might be referring to the BBC's tenancy of MediaCity UK:

The place I mean is the one where the D.G. resigned.. Chris Patton was with him.
It looked lioke the atrium within Broadcasting House, Central London.
that's the all-revamped Broadcasting House off Oxford St.

I remember Bush House well (which appears to be the front half curve of the new building) - my dad used to work there.
No Boxtops, Bush house is down on the Aldwych - World service et al. This is what they call New Broadcasting House, it is the old place in Portland place which has had a massive re-vamp and they have created a new atrium style, Savoy Hotel style entrance with blue lighting. This seems to be where all the interviews take place now.
