I suppose Engelbert could count as one - he wasn't always doing Eurovision stuff.
is matt munro still with us???
Question Author
Maybe jno but a decade younger, perhaps a different era all together
Matt Monro, died 1985.
Question Author
mrsm, the hugely talented Matt Monroe died in 1985 at the tragically foung age of 54
just googled matt munro im afraid he too,has shuffled off this mortal coil..
Question Author
>>young<<
Engelbert's 76, so a decade younger, but he was singing in the 50s, before he became famous.

Matt Monro died young, in 1985.
thank you janzman and sipowicz..my mum liked him...
Monro, not munro!
Vera Lynn is still alive.

Jerry Dorsey shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as these great singers.
Tom Jones has had his moments.
I have to agree. Arnold Dorsey couldn't hold a candle to Matt Monro.
Jack Jones , pity there aren't more great crooners I loved Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jnr Dean Martin still listen to them.
As far as I'm concerned, it went like this:

Frank Sinatra
Tony Bennett
Matt Monro

and the rest...
Val Doonican
Vince Hill
Tony Christie
Frank Sinatra
then all the rest had to catch up

thought Engleberts name was Jerry.
Arnold George, worse still.
