I have an LG DVD recorder with HDD RHT497H. (Bought it April 2010). Recently it refuses to play back programmes I have recorded on the same unit. It takes ages to read the inserted DVD then comes up with 'Disc cannot be recognised' I have tried everything I can think of to get them to work. It will still play pre recorded dvd's and my own recorded dvd's will play on other equipment. Is there some simple way of fixing this problem or does it need real expertise?

I have much the same problem. I have a Blue ray which came free when I bought a 3D panasonic 42", but I tried to play a DVD this afternoon but it wouldn`t do so for the same reason as yours, only hope one of A'Bs clever tech`s can advise.
Are the discs scratched or damaged in any way?
No, brand new.
