Some killings are now so common that they fail to reach the headlines, and at a quick search appear only to have been reported by two main news outlets, the BBC and the Daily Mail.

/// Do you trawl through all newspapers or just the mail? ///

If you were that smart you would check up and find I 'trawl' through most newspapers, but mostly post on Daily Mail reports, since they seems to upset the 'Anti Daly Mail Brigade' so much.

/// Do you have a life away from the net? ///

Yes I do, but checking on your postings you seem to spend an awful amount of time perhaps not 'trawling' the net, (judging by the very small number of thread you manage to post), but by the large amount of 'sitting on the fence' criticisms you make.

If they upset you so much why do you bother?

Keeping you busy am I Gromit?

One of those killings took place almost 3 weeks ago, try and be a little more topical.

I also didn't miss the 'domestic murders' and although equally very disturbing, are a different class of killing than those under discussion.

I though exactly the same thing - when the finger on the trigger isn't black, then the story won't make it through the AOG firewall.

Taken from the BBC report of today's atrocity in Co Durham.

• The latest available Home Office data shows firearms were used in 12,995 recorded crimes in England and Wales in 2009-10, a 9% decrease on 2008-09, and the sixth consecutive annual fall

• Excluding air weapons, firearm offences decreased by 2% to 8,067

• Handguns were used in 3,748 offences during 2009-10, a fall of 12% on 2008-09

• Overall, firearm offences involving any type of injury increased by 5% in 2009-10, from 2,458 in 2008-09 to 2,574. This followed a large fall of 41% in 2007-08

• There were 40 fatal injuries from crimes involving firearms in 2009-10

Note the use of the word 'Decrease' in most of those stats.
Sad and shocking as these killings are, they represent a minute part of the population - millions of us go about our business very day without anything like this happening.
Lots of killings fail to make the national headlines. Do any fail to make the regional press?
And how would you know if they did (!)
Yes, as time go on you will see more and more.
i could add a few more, one on website i just looked at, woman abducted and killed, left in a car, the neighbours said they heard screaming, if so why didn't they call the police..
