Just watched it and am now scared.

"This is one of the most serious, pernicious crimes there is" - Peter Davies, CEOP

I can't let Halifax daughter (aged 12, in a multi-cultural town) out on her own now, can I?

I didn't see the programme. But judging from past accounts of 'grooming' I believe they target un-loved, damaged, children.
I'm sure your child would be safe.

sandy - they target any young girl who is wearing (in their words) a "short skirt - she's asking for it".

Halifax girl is 12 and likes wearing fashionable clothes, but I don't let her go out looking like a tart! But she likes going to town with her friends on a Saturday afternoon. I'm worried now that I might be putting her at risk.
and if you don't let her out on her own you'll ensure she grows up afraid of life. Just be sensible, explain there are bad things out there, equip her to deal with them and then I'm afraid you just have to trust her judgment, you can't make her terrified of everyone and everything, that's not fair.
Just watching it now....

thank you nox, i think i need someone to put my paranoid brain in perspective sometimes.

it is so worrying though, isn't it?
Question Author
ummm - will you let me know what you think?
Yes it's really worrying, I have a daughter whose 13 and lives in Germany and I know she goes out with her older step sisters there, and it's very easy to let your mind go into overdrive.
Yep...will do x
Question Author
if she's got older sisters, she'll be fine...halifax daughter goes out with her so-called friends, who bitch about her one week and then are her "best friend" the next week.

But thanks nox, it's good to talk to someone who understands :)
Question Author
thanks ummm x
Shocking.....so so shocked by the father blaming the girls parents. They picked out vunerable children mostly. As sad as it might sound.....all children need good parents. But, But....these men knew how to manipulate girls so young....who taught them that?

I'm off to bed....will give a better explanation tomorrow x
Glad I didn't watch it. Very depressing and sad.
If you've brought her up right and told her about the bad things that can happen, she'll be aware of the dangers and avoid them. It's not fair to stop her going out because of your fears. I agree with NOX, she'll be frightened of everyone and everything. I'm sure she'll be fine
