Just watched 'The Green Mile' and fancy reading the book. Is it anything like the film or has the screenplay been totally re-written as usual?

i read the book a couple of years back before seeing the film and the 2 arent that far apart for a change.

i seem to recall the ending was different(after the execution)

For a Stephen King novel, it was adapted quite well in my opinion. BTW I think the book is better!
Although Tom Hanks character as an old man was getting relentlessly bullied in the nursing home by a member of staff.
Very good book and film - I think they were roughly the same.
