Just checked in the TV guide and no it's straight into 1916.............and I can't bloody believe the BBC have put the new Spooks series on at the same time!!
I used to love Spooks when it first started and Matthew McFayden was in it but it got too violent and far-fetched for me, the girl in the fat fryer finished me off I'm afraid.
im like prudie, i too didnt watch the first series,
so, without catching up on it on dvds etc, will the 2nd series be easy enough to get into without knowing whats gone on beforehand?
I would think you will pick it up as the first series plunged us straight into 1912 and into the middle of their lives ..... the last series ended with the announcement of th outreak of war ........
Highly recommended Looobylooo ..... best hours TV viewing all week ........ There is also a special edition of Countrywise tomorrow at 1800 on ITV1 which is exploring Highclere (Downton Abbey) and the surrounding area ....... might help to watch that too.
If, as "littleshirl" says, the first series of Downton Abbey is only £8.77 to buy, that's not much different to one cinema ticket these days, and absolutely well worth it. Fantastic series. It had great story, well thought out characters, it was brilliantly researched, had fab scenery, frocks, and cars, and was just an hour of total escapism every week which I found myself completely engrossed in (and I have the concentration of a goldfish so it must be good!) :-)
Alibeth, agree, my concentration wavers on the borders of sonambulism
and if you can't find something to like about the programme i would be amazed. Escapism, fun, frocks, good actors, love Hugh Bonneville, and can see myself wallowing for the entire time it's on
