I honestly don't know but I would think unlikely - cashback is a very good way of getting rid of cash they would otherwise have to bank.
For some reasons staff at Morrison's are no longer allowed to ask if you want cash back but will do it if you ask before your bill is finalised.

Just been to cash point at little Tesco's as the gardener has turned up a day early and I'd no money. The cash point was not working so I went into store and bought things I didn't really need so's I could get some cashback...........came to pay and the little rat then told me they'd stopped doing cashback.
Got in car and drove another 2 miles to next cash point............grrrrrrrrrr
Go to a post office, no need to buy anything just get cash
our local tesco express has never done cashback, i always thought the larger stores did though
I know Asda do, and I got some cashback at Morrisons last week.

It was a Tesco express fluff.............I've actually never asked for cashback from anywhere before.
ach well thre you go, what more do you expect from a supermarket, food?

er I didn't buy any food :-(
''I've actually never asked for cashback from anywhere before''

Usually a gold filling is enough eh...
i think they still do. i know sainsburys defiantly do
I might be totally wrong here, but i will try to find out more. I know at the end of this month they are stopping the cheque guarantee scheme. Isn't cash back something similar but you just bypass the cheque up to £50? Maybe thats why it isn't getting offered.
out tescos express has never offered cashback as a service. the bigger supermarkets do but the express stores are usually small local ones
The little tescos near me doesn't do cash back and that's also an express.
Tesco express are a franchise I believe and don't operate under the same conditions as the full fat branches
I got cashback at asda yesterday, I have never asked for cashback at tesco
the full fat branches sell all the goodies :)
Yes Postdog. It costs them to bank as well.
I have been able to get maximum cashback ( £50-00 ) from both Tesco and Sainsbury,
when only having to buy a scratchcard for £1-00.
A lot of the little Tescos round here say they don't do cashback as they have a cash machine outside.

I thought it was something to do with extra fraud protection - when some scroat stole my card they made a number of small purchases with larger cashback requests before my bank noticed and stopped it. I guess if that was the case then it would more widespread though.
