gas to buy and install
they should still get a deal on the warm front site though surely
http://www.warmfront.co.uk/
if they don't qualify, warm front wont help

not sure as mum isnt 60 til next year and works full time dad is 63 and works full time so i guess its a no as it looks like they need to recieve benefits ;(
Prices can vary from around £1500-£4000 for supply and install. British Gas seem to be fairly expensive.

I've heard that sometimes its cheaper to buy the boiler yourself and simply get a Corgi registered fitter to install it for you.

When buying a boiler, get advice though as size of house, usage etc will be a factor.

My in-laws got a combi heater for 3 bed semi all in for £1500

it was british gas who quoted it, i guess they will just have to shop around
My mum got one about three months ago from British Gas - she paid approx £2k for it. More expensive than some but she needs the peace of mind they provide
We were in a similar situation last year. Did not qualify.

We found a local business who charged us £1,600 to supply and fit a condeser boiler. We also have a maintenance agreement with them costing £11.16 per month.

I suggest you steer clear of the big boys ie British Gas; they quoted us £3,200 for exatly the same boiler! And of course their maintenance agreement is nearer £20 a month.

Shop local - good luck.

they need one as cheap as possible really
Bear in mind that you often get what you pay for. I had a BG one fitted 2 years ago. It cost £4000 but I got a years homecare cover thrown in. Also their after sales service is very good.

thanks all x
is it just a like for like replacement, or is there radiators/pipework involved?
what about one of the low rate finance schemes? try here:

isn't that "low rate finance scheme" just telling you to get a credit card to cover it?
