Do you know how many men have the ability to purchase their chosen items without saying one single word, not even an appreciative grunt in many cases. having worked with women's designer footwear for several years, therefore not being aware of this section of the skoppong public, I thought some females could be rude, but the men that pick up one item, queue to pay, give you the money and take their change and purchase and then walk away with not even eye contact is astounding. Women are never guilty of that type of rudeness, i blame self service petrol stations for it.

I think a lot (not all) of retail staff are rude nowadays. I've lost count of the times I've waited to speak to shop staff about something whilst they discussed their boyfriends or what they had planned for the next night out.....and you just know if you interrupt them the service you get will be minimal or non-existent.
I worked in retail many years ago and if I'd been caught ignoring a customer or trying to fob them off I'd have been sacked on the spot.
Having said all that many of todays shoppers can be rude and aggressive, and if I was trying to be helpful and they were nasty in turn I'd probably end up giving them a glasgow kiss......

Lol, I hadn't, but I have now, incidently that's not possible to do as cashback is in multiples of 5 ;-)
Back to this post...don't get me wrong, I've been on the recieving end of sourfaced shop assistants too, but my God there's probably 10x's that amount of stroppy, bad tempered, ungrateful, rude and nowty customers.

the girls and young lads in my local supermarket are really polite and cheerful al the time, despite old ladies moaning at them about the queues and the price of everything. sometimes i helpfully smile at the checkout person when an old lady in front is moaning and then whisper to them 'don't worry i'll push her in the road when i get outside'.
they always smile. their eyes are ever so bright and teary.

I agree about rudeness on both sides.
We once went into a pub and asked the barman who was pouring a pint if they were still serving food. Simple request he could have answered while pouring or he could have replied along the lines give me a a minute and I'll find out for you. But no it was a snappy "I'm serving someone else". That cost his business £50 to £100 as the whole party who wanted to buy drinks and a meal walked out and went to another pub down the road.
Not so easy with rude customers as if you refuse to serve them your only hurting your own business.

no not like that, i just insult everyone as i go along i called one poor bloke a jessie and a big girls blouse cos he was going on about how cold it was, most of them get greeting by me calling them pieface
(most of the customers are people i know fairly well and its a two way thing. I wouldn't deliberatly be rude to someone i didn't know well enough to insult :-)
