She will never have a mother in law. I should imagine it was something that both of them talked about and both of them wanted. Me, I wouldn't want an engagement ring at all!
I know that ring is very special, and so was princess diana, but I dont really think its such a good idea with Kate having it as her engagement ring though --- no
It's not just any ring, or any mother-in-law, I can't hand on my Mum's engagement ring as she was buried with it, but it would have been a very emotional thing to do and ant girl that accepted it and felt the deep importance of it would be good enough to be anyones daughter-in-law in my opinion.
Sadly Redman didn't have his late mothers ring... but I would have felt incredibly privileged to be offered something so precious...but diana's ring isn't just carats it is the weight of history...that is a different thing so no...put it in a museum....
it's an heirloom of the family she's marrying into; people from old families often do that sort of thing. The idea that you have to have everything brand-new is just consumer-society brainwashing.
plus it takes care of the something old something borrowed and something blue in one fell swoop, tell you what though, wouldn't be too surprised that she wears a copy and the real one is locked away after the big day.
I agree with you Dotty. A very meaningful emotional thing, especially in the circumstances. Must mean a lot to Charles and because of that would be very special to Kate. For him to give that to her to me means a real token of love.
I wonder what camilla thought ? i think its lovely for william to give his bride to be his mothers ring , hope it brings more happiness than what dianna had
