Part-time work - holiday entitlement

If I contracted to work 22 hours per week but days of the week are not stipulated in my contract, am I entitled to bank holidays, pro rata?

This is a difficult one and it should be clearly laid out in your contract of employment. My sister used to job share with a person, the other person did the front end of the week so was off on all the bank holidays except good Friday, so my sister lost out. We have sorted this at our work by saying that we all get say 27 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays - people who work 4 hours per day (22 hours p.w.) therefore get 8 bank holidays includes in their 33 days. You need to check your terms and conditions and see how your employer deals with it, particularly if you work shifts and might normally expect to work some bank hols.
Your minimum holiday entitlement is the statutory minimum which is now 28 days for full time employees. This includes bank holidays. The figures are prorated for part time staff.
Soem employers will add bank hols to your basic holiday entitlement before prorating to get holiday entitlements. Some will just give you bank hols if they fall on your working day. It's up to them as long as they meet the statutory minimum and don't disciminate.

Many thanks to you both - I shall look into this.

I didn't see how one could be penalised because I don't work Mondays and Fridays. However, I do work both of those of those days if needed. It is a verbal contract that I work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
but you aren't being penalised in anyway as long as you get your statutory right holiday entitlement. This can INCLUDE bank holidays - whether you work a Monday or frid is completely irrelevant

In accordance with the ACAS/Busineslink calculator, you are entitled to a minimum of 123.2 hours leave in a holiday year, which is the equivalent to 5.6 weeks which would include Bank Holidays, whether you would normally work them or not. If your employer is not normally open for business on Bank Holidays they would usually deduct the 8 days from the allowance, as if you are taking them off as holiday.
Not would, twix, could - the employer can offer BH on top of the 28 days entitlement as set out my by employment law
And why would an employer deduct holiday entitlement ? They would have to give it somewhere else
