You need to contact your local Register Office, is your daughter's natural father on her birth registration?
What does your daughter's father think of this proposal?
Do you want him to?.......are you separated?......more info please.

or just look contact/look at the adoption agency for advice on the matter................

Don't you have to go through Social Services??

I had to when adopting my partners daughter - I say partner we were married. Biological father unknown
if your botfriend has been living with you as your civil partner for more than 6 months you do not need to go through an adoption agency, but you will need a solicitor, especially if the child's father objects.
At the risk of sounding really old fashioned and prudish here, can I just ask, is this a casual boyfriend or someone you see yourself in a long term relationship with?

The reason I ask is that i personally would wish my status with my boyfriend to be on a more permanent basis before I did something as drastic as this.

Where is your child's biological father in all this?
Adoption requires a great deal more than contacting a Register Office, Dot!

A court order is needed. That can only be granted after your local council's social services department has produced reports relating to everyone involved in the process, including both natural parents, your boyfriend and your daughter. (A police check on your boyfriend will be needed).

Further your daughter's natural father has to give his permission, as he will lose parental responsibility. The only exceptions are if he can't be traced, if he's incapable of giving consent or if delaying an adoption order would put your daughter's welfare at risk.

The whole process is extremely lengthy. Your boyfriend is required to notify social services of his intent to apply for a court order at least three months before he does so. In practice it would be best to allow longer, since checks by social services and the police can take a long time to complete. Then the court process is likely to take several months further. You and your boyfriend should prepare yourself for a year of hassle and doubt.

Chris
Not for the adopting of a partner or spouses child that lives with you Chris , according to the current citizens advice bureau guidelines,
in my opinion, the process should be lenghthy and hard. Take a step back and realise the implications here
1) you can't just "give" a child a new parent. No matter how much you wish things were otherwise, the father IS the father
2) you WILL need the father's permission. Perhaps it will make him want to see the child more, come back in her life? Are you ready for that possibility?
2 threads - same Q.....don't do this, kmckie88; we'll go insane :)
