£50 fine for throwing a fag butt down !!
Preamble -for as much as I respect the views of the people who live in glasshouses I would appreciate they didnt preach on this thread.Thank you x
Right -my daughter who lost her job and has managed to secure a seasonal one was going to work -dropped a fag end in the KFC car park and a bleeding DOG WARDEN screeched to a halt in her car and chased back at her and lashed her with a 50 quid fine.She accepted it only after the said DOG WARDEN ran after her as she didnt want to be late for work.
Now from a legal point -it was on private property and there was no CCTV. She cant manage to pay it -she knows she was silly but jeeez -I just wished they actually targetted the people who let their dogs cr@p on public ground rendering us liable to trail it into out homes.
Does it get to the extreme now that if you pick your nose and roll it up and are seen to drop it that you are fined.
I know people who have accepted a 40 quid fine for public disorder and placing people in alarm.

No Andocles -its not just because my daughter is kint because at the end of the day she isnt ever skint as she has me her mum to always be there to help her out.
I just feel as a point of principle given the rubbish I witness everyday -especially outside pubs and other establishments that it was harsh and i will maintain that.
As I have said before I have witmessed men who have been drunk and disorderly and abusive and arumentative and rather lash them ine cells they are given on the spot fines which are £40 at least here in Scotland.They cause alarm -my daughter didnt and at the end of the day I darseay every fag end has through days become mush and then biodegradable.
I dont accept her smoking so thats not the issue truly its jst as i have said the principal.
I think I have given a couple of example and when does it become farcical when I persoanlly have had to lash trainers in the bin after trying to wash them as I have stepped in dog muck and how often have I scrubbed my carpets for the same reason.
My daughter knows I am posting this -she wanted to know what the consesus was so i am ultimtely 'the messenger' although i have my own views.

O we all know what she did was 'wrong' in the nth degree the point im making is that its pitiful that she wasnt just fined a fiver and she wouldnt have done it again -50 quid is harsh by any standards -just look around you.

BTW -sara -think at 20 with her own mortgage and trying her hardest to make ends meet and her only vice is a fag then she's doing not too bad -wee bit sweeping but hey wasnt bad expected far worse so 10/10 for being very upfront and basically admitting you havent erred :) Could be worse she could be scrounging and on benefits but she's not :) Youngsters nowadays -eh?
Most smokers have a bad attitude to fouling the planet with the residue of their drug fix. Our streets are littered with thousands of butts. Many butts end up in the ocean where they persist causing problems for marine life.
I am very happy that your daughter will feel the effect of the fine. Hopefully it will cure her disregard for the environment. Besides fifty quid is just a few packets of cigarettes. Maybe she should forgo fifty quid worth so she will be square again.

Shame they are not as strict on the scummy bastads who throw their KFC litter on the floor, she`s been hard done by in my opinion

Elvis aptly demonstrates the kind of ignorance and arrogance so common among smokers. Many smokers believe it is their right to throw butts on the ground.
Also contrary to tamborine's post the filters are quite persistent. Perhaps water flow is too difficult for Elvis's clearly Neandertal intellect to grasp but the filters do end up in the ocean as they are carried there by storm runoff.

Well beso, perhaps if it wasn`t for the likes of you and your ilk, smokers would still be allowed to smoke inside therefore reducing the number of fag butts in the street
Just to add, I am against litterbugs just as much as you are and never throw my fag butts on the street, so please don`t tar all smokers with the same brush
