I have been issued with a County Court claim and was wondering what the time scale is for the person issuing the claim to submit after the debt allegedly became payable. The debt isnt any form of credit but an alleged claim for services bought from a business.
Thanks

Did you buy the services ?
Six years from the date of the debt being incurred .
6 years from your acknowledgement of the debt, in letter, telephone or part payment.
Correct,hc (I was trying to keep it simple, as I read the question ) and you have to be careful. Virtually any letter etc, other than one denying the existence of the debt, will count as an acknowledgment of it.

thanks everyone....if a judgement is made against me, do you know if the debt has to be cleared in one go, or can it be paid in installments. I am on a very low income and my partner has just recently had a baby and our outgoings are practically the same as our income......
any help or advice is really appreciated....thanks
You will have to fill in a form giving the details of all your incomings and outgoings, and yes, you will be allowed to pay in instalments.
