After receiving a large payout would it be correct to give my lawyer a present and if so what? Thank you

I'd guess your lawyer has already got a fat fee. A thank you letter would be enough.

I think it would be approriate to spread your payout to all insurance policyholder since it is we that have ultimately paid for your good-fortune via our increased premiums.

Assuming the large payout wasn't for a brain related injury, I'm guessing you are just the generous type ( hint hint lol).

The lawyer has had their fee. You owe them nothing, physically, mentally or financially. Give what you were going to give to him to children in need.
nothing wrong with a thank-you note, though.
