my parents want to move in to a sought after cul-de-sac,they very rarely come on the market,do you think it would be ok to post a note through the doors just to say if they ever wanted to sell we are ready to buy and to give them a call?some people maybe don't think about it until they read somebody is in a position to buy?what do you think?

its no different to when the estate agencies pop leaflets through the door.

I dont think its cheeky at all. Plus the mention of saving estate agents fees might just swing it for some
No I'd go for it.......although they may get some funny phonecalls....
soem people even go round peoples houses and ask them themselves. Go for it
Nothing wrong with that, After all ' Nothing ventured nothing gained ' .
I recently bought a new car and a chap who delivers the free press in our area knocked on the door and asked if I'd sold my old one...............he then said 'if I'd known you were going to sell it I'd have had it'..............my reply was 'why didn't you ask'.................
I would pmsl if the House in question turned out to be craft's ! :-D
New car crafty, LOL
Please let it be mine, please let it be mine...

yeah thats what i were thinking but mum and dad are a bit set in their ways and don't like bothering people, you know what older generation are like!do yuo think they should be hand wriiten or printed out?don't want them thinking they are some kind of secret estate agent/big money man after propery to rent on!
I would do it formally pinkcowprint, and straight to the point but politely. You never know what the outcome might be as they could be considering a Sale but because of the Recession are holding back for now.
the owners may be thinking market dead at the minute no one will buy
Twenty-five years ago I did this within a small close of 23 houses, when I had been let down by one of the owners who agreed to sell, then later changed their minds. I posted leaflets through the other 22 houses and received 2 replies. It's perfectly acceptable.
I bought one of the houses who replied.
Yes - drop leaflets. Selling properties now is too much red-tape with HIPS, agents fees & mortgages. If someone asked to buy mine......I'd jump at it!
This is an ab fab idea, why not help out and do it for your parents if they feel cheeky? By the way I've got a 2 up 3 down in Widnes going for £78k if anyone's interested LOL
