The feral youths who terrorise the weak and vulnerable and get away with it time after time. Why can’t prisons be built especially for these youths? Boot Camps with no TV, video games, snooker or other such luxuries, just education and PT. If they knew they would spend a year in one of these institutions if it was proved that they are repeat offenders, (CCTV/ASBO's), it would put a stop to this behaviour.
There is no deterrent for these offences. They know they will be let off with a slap on the wrist!

Anyone agree?

Of course you're right chrissa but we're stuck with a weak government who hasn't the courage to do what you suggest.
It's a problem, I agree. But it's not a problem that has hit us overnight. This is a problem that has been growing since the 1960's. Successive governments are to blame but so too is the public. We are reaping what we once sowed. If you vote for political parties that put the economy above society then you get a society that is individualistic, and indeed, feral.

Y cant the men/women of the street get together & give them a good bashing? I would set my dogs on them!
With particular regard to the mother that committed suicide after killing her disabled daughter-the hypocrisy of the media is sickening "feral youths, broken Britain" they love cases like this to propogate such nonsense -I suggest people read history and not romantacise about the past.- the elderly were chucked in hospitals until they died the disabled were either killed or shut away either in institutions or their own homes -unable to access basic care.the attitudes of most of the Mail ,Express, etc wouldn,t be much different from the equally vile people who target disabled people witness their daily attacks on people on disability benefits( label them scroungers forget that much more is left unclaimed than is lost by fraud)I would suggest that people question their own motives before spouting off with self-righteous nonsenses about the past.
A tough regime doesn't work. It's been tried before. For years the Borstal system imposed the conditions you mention on the worst of the young thugs of that time. The problem was that by the time they found their way into the system they were beyond change.
When Whitelaw was Home Secretary, during Thatcher's time, there was the 'short sharp shock' treatment. It didn't work either.
The problem starts in the family. If children aren't respected, and taught to respect others, they are heading for trouble. Take the parents of the boys who tormented a mother until she killed herself and her daughter. They couldn't see that their sons had done anything wrong. In time those lads will find their way into the criminal justice system. They will be the prison fodder of tomorrow.
The case of the mother who killer herself and her daughter is already slipping into history. Yesterday another 2 young thugs were convicted of murdering a man as he walked home from the local shops.
There will be more such outrages. There's no answer to this problem.

Sadly Sandy-Wroe I think you're right. I remember the "short sharp shock", but was it implemented, and for how long?
yes chrissa, however the parents also need to be punished abscent ones included it should be a double, feral brat in for one year along with the parents in a parent rehab prison, in respect of TV playstations these types of brats need to have them to understand a normal life, 3 meals a day, excerise, education, in cell by 7pm TV etc until 10pm when the plug is pulled anything else brings them out even more mental, just like when you teach a dog with rewards the same should apply, if the feral brat makes good progress then they receive more rewards, good boy well done or bad boy no playstation, moving into the subject on a deeper scale what chance has anyone got at 16 in this society living in a poor estate area and from a poor background, join up with a gang of your mates where at least you are wanted and walk the streets! the politicians are helping themselves to the gravy boat and giving aid to say Sudan where they hate our Western Ways and burn our flag, charity begins at home, cancel all overseas aid and save our children is my view.
Hi all,
It does not matter how much we comment on the Issue the daily papers will tell you again & again, there must be a sure way to stop this, Greece, Turkey, all these countries have a min of 2 years that the youth as soon as leaving school are straight into the army & it works, I have spoken to many people from Europe & they all same the same thing when they ask where you are from " Troubled Youth of the UK. their benefits should be earned! how, Pensioners Gardens, road sweeping, cleaning graffiti, cleaning up the towns first thing on a Sunday morning after the rubbish that is left from a Sat night, don't tell me this cannot work, It can, Did any see any trouble in Russia when England where playing there? does that answer the problem? If the parents will not help, warn them if that does not work, a notice that their benefits are going to stop & they will be issued with Food Tokens & no benefits cheques after all where do all these troubles stem from???????? Council Estates, Oh before anyone jumps up and say, " Snobby F---------- Bsdrd, I was brought up on one but at that time CONSCRIPTION WAS HERE> I think that will answer the critics.
80% of street crime / gangs is related to drugs, not to many years ago the Government was passing laws to relax weed as harmless, now wee see adverts on the effects it has, mental problems etc etc, now the experts! who made that decision should be placed in the dock.

Drugs are the problem and the types of drugs available has gone from a 1960/70s sweet shop offering to Supermarket levels on the streets.

Tackle the drug dealers big and small head on, stop and search anything, now are troops are abroad fighting in a country to protect us from terror, well I suggest we bring them back to our streets and tackle the drug dealers head on who are more of a threat to this countrys future.

Yes re last post they can introduce 2 years national service as a court punishment for anyone going off the rails or failling a drugs test.
Most people conveniently seem to forget that our government is nigh on bankrupt (the reasons why can be used a separate topic for ranting!). The 50% 'super tax' on earners over £150k coming into force in April is there for a reason.
I don't much care what the reasons are behind 'feral' behaviour, except to say that the prison system is already beyond breaking point because of financial constraints. Any money the government could scrounge up would likely head straight into the existing prisons, rather than the building/maintenance of new ones or any such boot camps. I like your ideas though. Give the Tories a call, they usually have to resort to stealing Labour's plans- I'm sure they'd be grateful for your thoughts :-)
