I was flashed a few days ago whilst driving in Switzerland on a UK number plate. I know the Swiss are 'hot' on speeding. What is the implication?

Probably a fine. I know the Swiss track down foreign drivers caught on camera so you can expect something through the post.
Hmm. They haven't ,as yet, got much chance of tracing a British car's registered keeper, by getting access to DVLA records, and even less chance of enforcing any fine or ban outside Switzerland. There's been a move towards having some reciprocity between EU countries but Switzerland isn't in the EU. The French have an idea for dealing with some of this problem of foreign offenders. Their road traffic police presently may demand on the spot fines and may impound the car pending payment !
Was this car a British hire car with UK plates? (I don't know whether we are normally allowed , under the contract, to take hire cars from here into that country)There's an outside chance that the hire company will pay the fine incurred, as a matter of good relations with Switzerland, and stick the sum on your credit card bill as an extra charge.
The French don't just issue on the spot fines or impound cars for foreign drivers only.
It is unlikely you will receive any fine through your door, but if you do, pay up and rest in peace
