my dad got me internet and a laptop for my birthday 2 months ago. ive been reading all the letters and I am doing ok with most things

at night our internet slows right down
my friend says it is becaus america starts using the net but i think thats stupid our neighbour comes home from work and switches his computer on after his tea and i think that that has something to do with it because i can see his connection and thats when ours goes slow

is this stupid can a internet come through your wall and slow yours down or is it the americans?

I wish somebody would buy me an internet for my birthday! (but not sure if I'd want an internet coming through my wall)

if both wireless routers are using the same channel then yes it may cause problems. connect your laptop to the router using the ethernet cable that came with it and see if it's still slowing down. if it's fine like that login to the admin pages for the router and change the wireless to another channel to see if that solves the issue.

It is not America. It is something called contention. The further away from the BT exchange you live, the more people are trying to use the lines. Your neighbour, and other people coming home from work and using the internet are all competing for the same bit of line.
