I'm sick of hearing about the PC Brigade. Presumably they have names. Does anyone know who they are, or do we have to go on being ruled by invisible people? It's time they stood up to be identified.

You know who they are.

It's 'them'.
lol I often wonder who they are too, its all spiralling out of control.
whoever they are they have alot to answer for.. and the people who listen to and agree with them and alter laws etc to suit there beliefs are just as dopy.. the vast majority of people know the difference between right and wrong but these people don't have any areas of grey in there beliefs its all black and white to them therefore they are very blinkered.. and if we keep listening to these agitators we will all have to stay indoorsbecause we could not talk or look at other people in case we offend them. or we may get offended because we are being brainwashed by these dopes.. lets all go back to the fifties when people could say what they pleased because they had just fought a war to gain that privilage.. and they could walk through parks alone without people thinking they gay or paedophiles and perants could smack there kids for being naughty and let them go out to play without being branded bad perants ..one day people will begin to realise these planks are ruining this country and not listen to them
What about the non-whites who also fought in the Second World War, was it okay for others to abuse them for the colour of their skin in the 1950s?
They hang around in town halls, taking offence on behalf of people they think might be offended.
They are employed every where.

They are you and I - People in general cannot differentiate between what is genuienly offensive and what may be slightly off colour.

You have a situation where anything out of line can be punished so people tend to see it as the norm.

Take the word darling, now where I was brought up its a term of endearment and was used at times to address ladies that might catch your eye. This is now termed offensive and unacceptable. I have never worked out why as I always (as a man) used it in the most flattering way and never meant any offense.

However should I use it to address a female collegue I could be up in front of HR and disciplined.

So I never use it outside the family, so I am part of the PC brigade. :-(
No Dave - your only one pof them if you preach it to others:-)

The rest of us just have to muddle on and hope we haven't offended anyone by leaving the house!

Thank you all for these interesting replies. TCL it is of course quite wrong that anyone should be abused because of their colour; but why this faceless PC brigade? I'm beginning to think it doesn't really exist and the whole thing is just a national obsession. Dave hit the nail on the head with "People in general cannot differentiate between what is genuienly offensive and what may be slightly off colour. " We ourselves are best placed to keep this in perspective and more open discussion wouldn't do any harm.
