Is it ever too early to apply for mini pupilages?

The earliest you can apply is 16. Having said that, most chambers will not take a mini pupil til at least 18.

There are limited places for mini pupils, and thus preference tends to be for those who are already part way through their degree.

thanks, I'm a first year LLB coming towards the end of my first year. I am aware of how competitive becoming a barrister/solicitor is so I want to do everything in my power to make my CV as interesting as possible. I just don't want to apply for a mini pupilage/work experience and have people not offer me a place assuming I do not know anything about law as I am a first year.

is it best to wait until the second year. I am 24 and I am an aircraft engineer in the RAF so dispite being a first year LLB student I may have something to offer...
