What if every year the two public holidays for Christmas and Boxing Day were made to fall on a Friday and a Monday instead, as at Easter? Or a Thursday and Friday.

Would you prefer that to the current way of things?

No, only Boxing Day is a Public Holiday, Christmas day, Good Friday and Easter Monday are religious days.

December 25th would not be on a Friday every year and so it would not work,
