How to reclaim a vehicle that has been stolen over 10 years ago

I had a very rare VW camper stolen from me over 10 years ago. I reported it to the police at the time. A week ago a friend showed how to look up vehiles on the DVLA website and the camper is on there same number plate different color. I have contacted DVLA and they have advised me to go to the police. Is there any laws on ownership i.e. time deadlines.

Did you get compensation from an insurance company?

If so, then it was probably recovered after the payout, in which case it was the property of the insurance company and they could do with it whatever they liked.


They sold it on.
