I cashed a check for $7000 at my local bank. I knew they could ask where the money came from, but can they also ask what I plan to do with the money? Got my rankles up!

This is mainly a UK site, so not knowing which country you are in, and only knowing you deal in $, it is unlikely you are going to get a proper answer.
I would guess from the spelling of check as well as the currency that candlewick is american
The reason they are asking what you plan to do with it is so they can sell you something.

Example:

You: I'm going to buy a car
Bank: Would you like to buy car insurance

You: I'm going on holiday
Bank: Would you like travel insurance, holiday money from us.

or which of there accounts or savings plans would be of benefit to you !!
