He should be claiming Job Seekers' Allowance
Question Author
hy will he still get jobseekers even if his wife works ?
They wont be putting him on anything, he has to apply. Call the Contact Centre 0800 0556688 it is done over the phone. He can also appeal against the decision and if he wins his Inacapacity Benefit will be reinstated and any Job Seekers Allowance he has received will be taken from any back payment of IB. While his appeal is in he could apply for reduced rate Income Support ( 20% reduction) but as this is means tested his wifes earnings would have to be taken into account of course.
Because he is seeking a job, and is entitled to JSA.

Whether his wife works or not is irrelevant to JSA
Ethel you MUST start doing some checking before giving advice on Benefits. If a person is in receipt of Income based JSA, a claimant's partner's work MUST NOT EXCEED 24 hours
I wasn't referring to income based JSA.

I was referring to contributory based JSA
Question Author
hy guys .whats the difference with these two benefits ??
You get contribution based if you have paid your National Insurance, the other is if you haven't paid NI and have a low income.
How come it's the same amount whether it's Contribution based or income based?
Ethel state benefits can be involved at the best of times and while it is okay to post general advice, to post completely incorrect advice is not. I doubt most folk are aware of JSA(CB) and JSA(IB) so how can you say you meant one and not the other?

No doubt some folk on here take what you say as gospel and don't bother to check its accuracy but to do so could be a costly mistake.
Corbyloon - I understand what you are saying, but as Steven has been working and crediting NI through his IB he WILL be entitled to conrtributory based JSA

He had given enough info for me to answer confidently.
IB credits only count towards Retirement Pension not towards payment of benefit.
Ethel look up the First Contribution Condition for JSA and tell me how you know that the requisite NI Conts have been PAID in one of the two relevant tax years prior to the JSA Claim.
If he's told he is fit to work then GET A JOB
