My mum has an 18 month phone contract with Three. She is around 6 months into it. She never uses the minutes she has and wants to lower it to another tariff. She wants to know how long she has to be into the contract before she can lower the tariff. I have no idea so thought I would ask you lovely people...

we were told 6 months but that you can only drop one tariff band at a time and every 2 or 3 months i think it was
My daughter had a contract with 3. She lost her job just after taking it out and rang them to see if she could cancel or reduce the payments. They said no, not until it had been running for 12 months. She stopped paying and after so long they sent the debt to a collection agency, who she has now paid in full. She is no longer with 3.
I think the only way you can stop that contract is they are in breach of their contract< ie if they over charge you or make an error on your bill. and from what i have heard and been victim of being over charged i would go through all the bills and you might find something, thats if you havent already been a victim of them over charging... good luck
The short answer is: 18 months - the contract period that was agreed. There is no escape unless your mother is below the age of 17 (unlikely), or is in some other way 'incapax', or was coerced to sign.

My advice is: don't get into such contracts.
Hi
