Am at my wits end so hope someone can help me. I have worked in a school office for several years and have an enhanced CRB check every 3 years. I have never been in trouble with the police and am a law abiding person. That was until last year. Briefly after 6 months of being provoked by a women who said awful things I lost my temper and hit her. she reported me to the police and I was given a caution. I am terrified what will happen when my CRB is due again (2009). Will I lose my job, should I tell my boss now what happened? Please help.

You could only lose your job if your conviction resulted in a 'loss of trust' regarding your suitability for the post. There's no reason to suppose that your caution, for a minor assault on an adult, would lead to such a loss of trust.

Speak to the head teacher (and/or the chairman of the governors) and you'll almost certainly find that you've got nothing to worry about.
