I found the foam mousse used for cleaning computer terminals works fine on my black tv.

Thank you Bob. I'll try that tonight. Mind you, I think my telly might be a bit far gone.
but doing it once is enough though !

What do you mean?
Sorry .... silly double posting. Sadly if you wish to buy a new black tv like I do, you'll find it very hard to get one as they are all groty silver now, these look old and become grubby very quickly. Only know of two (very expensive) makes that come in black now. Good luck with the cleaning.
Try 'son of a gun' or ' back to black' which you should be able to get from your nearest car accessories store
Be careful with back to black, use it too often and staring at your black telly will be like looking into the heart of the sun. It can make black plastic too shiny.
On C4's "How Clean is Your House" last night, they cleaned the black plastic on a TV with a solution of 2 parts Water to 1part Methylated Spirits. It seemed to do the trick.

Thank you. I haven't tried anything yet. Bit of a problem with procrastination. 'How Clean is Your House?' is back on? I just looooooooooove it. I clean out my cutlery drawer evertime it's on. It's about the only thing I do clean (apart from the telly).
