Inland revenue - Cash grab??

Talking to an IFA friend of mine and he mentioned that as of a few weeks ago the IR can take any money owed directly from your bank. Anyone know any more about this surely that can't be the whole story.

He's a pretty poor IFA if that's really what he told you.

There is a PROPOSAL that at some unspecified future date that, subject to safeguards, they may be able to do this.
