Only in and around Nottingham.
Its a Scottish court system, roughly equivalent to the County Court.
"Sheriff" IS an English legal term, but no "Sheriff's Court" here. See the Sheriffs Act 1887.
Sheriff Courts are in Scotland. In these courts you can be given up to 3 years imprisonment, if the judge thinks the sentence should be more it is then transferred to the High Court of Justiciary where the sentence will be anything from 3 years upwards. (unlucky for some)
