recently i was parked in a layby with my motorcycle when a police traffic car pulled up along side me they wanted to see my documents and also checked my helmet to see if it was legal even though I had only bought it a week ago and paid over 150 and also had the reciept with me i was then told my leathers were ilegal i had to wear a 2 piece leather suit and was told i was being booked for having an ilegal helmet and leathers I was told i coulnt ride my motorcycle and was taken to a police station where i ended up with a caution and had to get a taxi back to my Motorcycle I had not been drinking as i never drink and drive my leathers were made to measure and cost me almost 400 my Helmet is white I wear a hi vis jacket over my leathers and ride with my lights on is there any way I can appeal against this caution my feeling is that the police officer didnt like Motorcyclists I tried to explane that my helmet was legal and he only needed to look at the helmet to see that it was ECE 22-05 safety certified which is the legal requirement and i have never heard that the law says you have to wear two piece leathers can anyone help

You don't have to wear leathers at all mate.Write a lteeer of complaint to the Chief constable and go and get legal advice bc none of that is legal my friend. That's disgraceful.
yeah, sounds like these guys were just bored.

get legal advice and make a complaint against the officers - as you now have a caution on your record.

i really don't see how leathers can be illegal - they are just clothes really...
This sounds extremely strange...

What offence did you receive a caution for and what was the offence you were arrested for?

If you denied any wrongdoing then they shouldn't be giving you a caution because you have to admit the offence and sign to confirm you're admitting it. Did you get legal advice at the police station?

As an aside though, stopping you to check your documents and checking the condition of the helmet and motorbike at the side of the road (even if you're sat parked on it) is permitted.

i didnt have any legal advice was told the offence was ilegal leathers the form was just put in fornt of me and i was told to sign it
Were you arrested?

Were you given a copy of the form?

Whereabouts did this happen?
You call yourself manxbiker. Manx is another word for the Isle of Man. Are you there and did this happen there? If so, it may be that they have different laws. If not, you shouldn't have signed and need to get advice.
Never sign anything the police put in front of you just because they tell you to. Ye Gods you could have signed anything. Get legal advice my friend.
