If a disables parking bay on the highway does not display a signpost nearby stating it's a disabled parking bay is it an offenve to park in this bay? My understanding is no plate on the pavement confirning it's for disabled parking then an offence has not been commited.

Can you confirm this
thanks

Since 31/01/03 there has been no requirement for roadside plates to be displayed in situations where restrictions apply 24 hours per day, on every day of the year. (For example, you might have noticed that plates are no longer displayed alongside double yellow lines). So, unless the disabled bay restrictions only apply at certain times, there is no requirement to display a plate.

i have to say, you are a great answerbanker buenchico! i really enjoy reading you informative and factual answers
and just to add my bit, if you know its a disabled space, surely it's marked somewhere? If it is, and you are not disabled, dont park in it!
They are pretty good Bednobs - I'm always impressed with Chris's answers too!

I thought all disabled bays were clearly marked with a large painted wheelchair sign inside them. In which case, no other drivers may park there.
