Renting In Order To Get Into A Non Catchment School

has anyone done this? What are the legalities of renting a place int he catchment of the school you want? How long would you have to rent for? what dates in the year would you have to rent for? What are the pitfalls?

Don't get me wrong - I do get it.

There is an incredibly good secondary school a 10 minute walk away, and we wanted our kids to go there.

Unfortunately, it's a school linked to the local church - it's not a church funded school, it's a state school - and one of the entry requirements is proof of church attendance. So, for 3 years prior to secondary school, my wife and I were dragging our sorry backsides up to the church every Sunday in order to get the signature from the vicar confirming attendance.

My wife and I do not have a religious bone between us.

To play this game to get into our local state school was just bananas...but it succeeded and we've never set foot in the church since.

Funny how some people pretend to be religious when it comes to their children's education. According to many on this site Christianity is ridiculous. One wonders why people would entrust their kids to any kind of school that has a religious affiliation - if, or course, they're not hypocrites.

Why ask the question if you have spent three years going to a church which will let your kid go to a school of your preference? You can't be telling the truth. You must have attended church to ach you mayieve your goal and now you're asking how you might achieve your goal. Are you saying that you were idiots?

I mean, it's not as if religion should be taken seriously - by any objective measure religion is utterly absurd and any organisation that peddles lies, fantasy and fairy stories should have nothing to do with any schools, unless they're funding the school.
