I think Matt Baker is brilliant. He has done and is still working for Children in Need. Also the marvellous children who joined in with him

Each and every year there are wonderful people doing extraordinary things and of course the work goes on throughout the year mostly unseen by many of us.

It's been lovely to see the Surprise Squad giving back to help the CiN aided Charities that helped them through their rough times.

Matt is of course one of those wonderful people.
It's impossible with something like this to single out one person - a huge effort by so very many.

Love Owain too, such fun.

Is Owain the weatherman? Yes he did very well. Didn’t he and raised so much money
5th richest country in the world and we have an annual
*children in need*
charity event....
The mind boggles!

Even the richest country in the world has fair amount of depravation and its not the childrens fault. Its voluntry to watch and give and lot's choose to
I remember when Children In Need used to be presented by Terry Wogan....
Made me want to throw up!

A millionaire telling us to give while he insisted on a big fat fee for presenting it!

Terry has been dead almost six years, let it drop.

Have a read of some of the Charities that donations go towards, they aren't really things that are covered by mainstream Schooling or NHS - read the stories of the children who have been helped and are now helping others.

Couldnt care less how many years he's been dead.
He still milked it for his own purpose, so dont tell me to let it drop.
I'll question what I want!

I personally know of special needs charities that have applied for funding (having special needs family members) that have been turned down.

Terry still benefited though.
It's very sad that all the Charities vying for help aren't accepted as yet - another reason we must keep fundraising.
//another reason we must keep fundraising//
In the 5th richest nation in the world.....
Yes even here - support groups for young carers, dance/exercise and theatre groups for those with disabilities that make mainstream attendance difficult.

Discussion groups for the young bereaved - the list is endless and the Government can in no way fund all of these and more.
From the Children in Need faqs...

// We use the money raised to support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

BBC Children in Need is currently supporting over 3000 local charities and projects in communities across the UK that are helping children and young people facing a range of disadvantages such as living in poverty, being disabled or ill, or experiencing distress, neglect or trauma.

In the last grant year alone, your support helped change the lives of over 600,000 disadvantaged children and young people, right here in the UK. //

3,000 local charities and projects...600,000 children. Obviously there is a need. It doesn't necessarily mean poverty or lack of food. There's education, after school projects, early learning, special needs...I'm sure the list is endless.
As I asked in a previous post why hasn't he been honoured by the Queen?
As the 5th richest country many can easily afford to donate to CiN.

Of course donating is not mandatory...so relax.
