When all the illegal raves and protests etc are going on down south? The beaches at Brighton , Bournemouth, Dorset and Cornwall are packed I haven't seen any pictures of Blackpool and Southport beaches like this.Heathrow is packed with travellers returning from holiday and London beer gardens are packed, and we in the North are in lockdown. It isn't fair!

Could be something to do with the larger than usual ethnically diverse population in that area.
illegal raves - where? i'm down south and I'm at a loose end tonight
Reportedly the lack of social distancing in some areas has led to an increase of cases.

I don't have the numbers for each area so therefore cannot comment more.
>>> Heathrow is packed with travellers returning from holiday

If it is, then it's totally unlike Stansted, which my friend flew into ten days ago (from her home in Italy) and flew out of again yesterday. The place was almost totally deserted.

While there might be small rises in infection rates elsewhere in the country, the rise around Manchester has been dramatic:

Is that graph for Manchester or Greater Manchester as a whole Chris?
As Jackdaw says and also because of larger extended familes in these groups living more closely and sharing housing. The virus is more likely to spread in indoor areas. I agree, it's not fair. Hopefully the measures being taken wil work and you can go out and about soon.
:-)
Do you have any figures for those locations?
Thank you.
Barsel, I would disagree that all the illegal raves have been just South. There have been a few planned events in the North, and one that actually took place 10 minutes away from me.

not packed, per-se, but a bottleneck was created at Immigration by Border Force's odd attitude to arrivals. They insist you use the automatic gates, and staff the manual desks accordingly (ie with only a handful of staff). But children are barred from using them, and their parents naturally want to stay with them.
That was in June, Barsel is concerned about the current reintroduction of restrictions.

Rightly or wrongly, that's the way that they've always done things at Stansted, Mushroom25.
Yes mamya, parties are still happening though.
Those on the beaches are usually there for a few hours and then they all disappear home again. People are outdoors in the open air and despite the the crowds, they are not spreading the virus.

In Greater Manchester however the virus is spreading at an increasingly higher rate in densely populated areas
