Have you noticed the increase in the amount of people wearing poppies? I was in town today and I've never seen so many people queuing up to buy them, one of the sellers had actually sold out and was waiting for fresh supplies. Do you think Brexit has given everyone pride back in their country?

Armistice Day?

Poppies are sold from around October 23, 2016 by the Royal British Legion but most people won’t start wearing theirs until October 31.
That’s due to many believing that to honour those affected by war, a poppy should be worn from 11 days before Remembrance Day.

I hope so J-j

I will as usual be wearing my Red Poppy with Pride,

Spare a thought, too, for the men and women of the White Poppy appeal. And don't make it a kind thought. This wretched outfit "believes that there are better ways of solving conflicts than killing strangers". That is how they describe the sacrifice of British and Allied lives in the inescapable war against Nazi Germany and the Axis powers.
People who wear white poppies – who include the sanctimonious prats of the "Christian" think tank Ekklesia – not only dishonour our war dead: they also assert their supposed moral superiority over the 40 million Britons who wear British Legion red poppies.
What should you do if you see a white poppy wearer today? At the very least you should give them a cheery wave not involving the use of all your fingers.

I've never seen anyone wearing a white poppy, they must be hard to sell.

JuJu you couldn't give them away in some locations. Islington is the place to tout them I shouldn't wonder. I recently went so visit the display at Caernarfon Castle. Well worth the trip.

I'm assuming Islington is in London. Are there a lot of immigrants living there who have anti-war views?
//Do you think Brexit has given everyone pride back in their country? //

From JuJu's question...... No.

New found pride in our Country gave us Brexit. Unfortunately this pride only resides with 52% of us.
The trendy luvvie set JuJu, immigrants cant afford Islington unless they are Russian gangsters, or in other nefarious ways, filthy rich.
I thought this was a thread about the film!
Question Author
52% is enough! The rest will be white poppy wearers who don't want to fight.
If there is a greater uptake in the sale of Poppies and more are showing interest in not only wearing them but knowing what they represent, that's brilliant.

Re the White Poppy

//What is the Legion's view on white poppies?

We have no objection to white poppies, or any group expressing their views. We see no conflict in wearing the red poppy alongside the white poppy. We do ask that the items are not offered alongside each other however as this would confuse the public.//

Mamya, I'm surprised the British Legion have no objections, white means surrender to the enemy.
Are you, well that's the stance.
Question Author
I think they're just being nice and don't want to upset anyone.

While we're honouring the dead, what about the living? Should the soldier who was jailed for defending himself against all those Taliban be released next week before Armistice Day?
Latest trend seems to be the bigger and blingiest the better ?
