Hi. My children, who are both mid and late teens, will be living with me for 50% of the time following my divorce. How much child maintenance will I be liable for. I know it's 20% of my net wage but is that reduced to 10% if I legally have them half the time? Just want an idea in basic terms and not in legal speak. Thank you

My brother has his child 50% of the time and he doesn't pay any maintenance. But they come to arrangements for paying 50/50 for birthday parties and such like. She is only 9.
When my children lived permanently with their dad I paid 15% for the 1st child and 5% for the second = 20% of my net salary until they were 18 or finished full time education. After the eldest turned 18 I paid 10% of my net salary. Once the youngest turned 18 & started uni I paid the 10% directly to her.
Everyone's circumstances are different so a good solicitor will advise.
