Colleague of mine is under investigation for "inapropriate behaviour" at work. He's attended an investigative interview and all witnesses have been interviewed weeks ago.

This guy is besides himself with worry....im the only one he feels he can talk to and i don't really know the answers.

Now the final lot of witnesses were interviewed on the 6th November....3 weeks ago and they've let him sweat for this amount of time. We both think this is very unreasonable especially as the chap has health issues. he's barely eating and hardly slept and had a week off sick with situational stress.

He doesn't want to go off on the sick as he loves his job but still hasn't heard from HR about the outcome.

Is there any path he could take to complain about the stress they've put him under.

just as an aside....i was interviewed as a witness and was told, off the record by the investigating officer, that it was pretty certain that no further action would be taken against my colleague.

Is it worth persuing...maybe a grievence or something.

Any help appreciated.

Is he part of a union to be able to get advice and support from a rep?

The local authority should have a policy on this kind of thing, the procedure set out, possibly regular updates as to what is happening etc... to see if it has been complied with and if he should be being advised more regularly.

He could also try ACAS. They have some guidance on their website and have a telephone line he could call.

It is also worth checking if there is any kind of workplace support available to see if they have any services available for him such as someone he can talk to about what is happening and help him to deal with the stress of it all.
