Currently working in london for a company which provided "accommodation" for me and about 12-14 other people. The place is appalling there are two bunk beds in each room with little room in between, people are living out of suit cases, there are two bathrooms for I think over 12 people, mice traps on floors, walls are falling apart, kitchen is small and dirty also falling apart, two fridges for over twelve people, the two bathrooms are small and grubby. I could go on, basically the place is like a house slum!

We are providing a service for a company who require us to live in London. We are required to live in this accommodation for 6 weeks!!!!

Is there anyone I can report this too and maybe anon as I do t want to loose my job. Surely we can't be expected to live in these appalling conditions!? Please help and advise! Thank you in advance!

I would think that the only people you can complain to are the ones that are employing you. Maybe they haven't actually inspected or seen the premises for a while and don't realise how bad it is.

I would be concerned about the fire regulations in a place like that and make sure that each room has the right fire evacuatin notice. Is it a make shift set of rooms or an actual hostel or something? What type of job are you doing?

DJHAWKES - there are no fire evac notices and they are make shift rooms just to cope with the volume of people, there is no living room or as such either. They have seen the accommodation. We are working as security on another location in London.

Surely we can report them to some one!? The council?
suggest you contact the local council, which borough are you in, because this is not an uncommon event.
the sad reality is that people are drawn into the capital promises of work, accommodation and its not explained what exactly you will be getting, no one would expect that, but as i said not unheard of. They are breaking the law, if no fire exits, and cramped into that tiny space will be a health and safety matter, you must report it to the local authority. Or police if you feel that badly,
better to lose the job than live like that, you should also tell the local authority and the police if necessary the companies name, they may not own the property and are most definitely putting you at risk
There are regulations concerning Fire safety and overcrowding, report the alleged overcrowding and lack of fire safety to the Housing department of your local Authority, your local fire and rescue service may also wish to be informed of the fire and safety implications.
It may help if you report the situation with as many of your colleagues as possible who are suffering the same alleged conditions.
I agree- although the workers run the strong risk that the company suddenly no longer requires their services
better to lose a job than a life, if the place is that bad i would report them to the authorities.
